THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE PROGRAMME FOCUS ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

The programme “Focus on Children and Families” is one in a series of activities and projects within the Directorate General III on Social Cohesion of the Council of Europe to promote social cohesion and tackle policy issues affecting children and families. The programme is co-ordinated by the Forum for Children and Families, a multidisciplinary body responsible to the European Committee on Social Cohesion (CDCS). In its work the Forum has decided to give particular attention to Children, democracy and participation in society, and in November 2001 the CDCS adopted the terms of reference for a working group to study “children's participation in decision making in families and other living arrangements, schools and community” taking as a starting point article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In order to create an inventory/bibliography of existing materials on children's participation  in the family and in other living arrangements,  the working group has launched a call for publications (articles, books, research projects etc.) available in the member states of the Council of Europe on this topic.

Member states (Governments, NGO’s, research institutions and other relevant associations) are therefore were requested to submit information about materials relevant to participation of children in the family and in other living arrangements as describe below.
